Description

An Aspiring Mage. An Ancient Magic. A Realm in Turmoil.

Living in a rugged mountain region, besieged by bandits and grain shortages, Kadaris’s ability to cast spells is one thing no one can take away from her. As the illegitimate daughter of an unforgiving warlord, how many prospects does she have?.

Then, rumors spring up about rogue mages and hedge witches stirring up trouble in a nearby town. When she is sent to investigate, Kadaris discovers that an ancient relic has been uncovered.

Even though court mages have been outlawed for five hundred years, she hopes if she recovers this artifact, she can secure her future as a spell master.

But she isn’t the only one who is desperate to lay claim to it.

Another winner! Kadaris is a mage – sort of. She longs to develop her powers. And she has just discovered that her teachers all have very little ability. She is tasked by her father to follow up on some rumours of renegade mages in a nearby town. She discovers that a relic has been enhancing their powers. It’s interesting to follow her journey as she grows and develops. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series. There is some crossover with characters from other books, but if you haven’t read them, that doesn’t make a difference. Her books remind me of Alisha Klapheke’s early books – wonderful world building and magic system. I received a free copy of this book, with no obligation.
